Just recently I was at the Painswick Rococo Gardens taking photos of their magnificent tulip and daffodil displays. I frequently take photos of the gardens at various different times of the year. Abbey Green Vets

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of meeting some very friendly, furry pups and their equally friendly owners, for some head shots unlike many I’ve done before! The brief was to capture up to date portraits of all the staff at both the Winchcombe and Broadway branches. Most of the staff, bar just a couple, were keen to involve their beloved dogs too.

I must say, it was the most delightful and fun set of head shots I’ve had the pleasure of taking! Despite being rescue dogs, they all had very placid characters, and, much like some of their owners, some were more keen to pose than others! The shoot was split over two days and also included interior shots of the Broadway practice and some ‘set up’ consultations.

Joan's Wellness Zone

After twelve very difficult months, it has been great to get back outside and behind the lens. It has been so long since I’ve done any kind of promotional or event work and we couldn’t have chosen a better day for it in terms of the weather!

I’ve worked with Joan before, having photographed some of her other fitness classes. This time around she needed up to date shots of her newly rebranded Joans’ Wellness Zone, previously called Mumsfit.

We met in Pittville Park at 9.15am for the hour long session. The Mum’s were put through their usual paces, as was I, being 26 weeks pregnant. Great fun though!

Arnica Dental Care

I was recently booked for a 40 minute promotional shoot at Arnica Dental Care, situated on Leckhampton Road in Cheltenham. The company were celebrating winning an award for the UK’s best dental practice for minimising stress and anxiety. The brief was just a few shots of the whole team outside the front of the building, holding the award.

Bisley Pre-School

A few weeks ago I was at Bisley pre-school taking photographs of the children for the website. The brief was natural, informal shots of the children playing, both individually and together. They needed one image for a banner poster and others for promotional material. I spent an hour with the little ones and what a delightful bunch they were! We spent some time inside before heading out into the playground where they were keen to show me their toys.

Its been a busy month, with plenty of commercial jobs, including this one at a local garage over in Gloucester. The owners needed some up to date photographs for their website and booked me for 40 minutes to get a variety of different shots ranging from head and profile pictures to miscellaneous images of tools, cars and action shots. It was great to be back at the Painswick Rococo Gardens. It’s spectacular at any time of the year but it was extra special to see it covered in snow. This time I had my mini mice with me and they absolutely loved it. On my last visit in the Autumn I was photographing the gorgeous colours and before that I was here in the Spring photographing the snowdrops. Rococo Gardens - Autumn Shoot

I find Painswick Rococo Gardens rather magical, especially in the Autumn when the light and colour can be so strong and vibrant. It’s a place I come to frequently as a photographer. There’s always something new to see. On my last visit in the Spring I was photographing the snowdrops. Click here to see the photos from that shoot.

This time I had been asked to capture some of the magnificent Autumn colour. The key to landscape photography is underexposure, this ensures the highlights in the sky don’t become washed out. One can then bring up the shadows during post production to create a well balanced photograph.

Mum's Fit - Outdoor Session

I've had the pleasure of working with Joan Palmer, of Mum's Fit and Buggy Fit, quite a lot over these past few weeks. She's revamping her website and as such has needed up to date pictures of some of her fitness classes. This particular session was of one of Joan's Mum's Fit classes that she runs weekly in Pittville Park. It was great to see so many Mum's getting outside and enjoying the exercise routines Joan set for them.

Buggy Fit

A few weeks ago Joan Palmer asked if I could come along and take some photos of one of her fitness classes. Joan runs Buggy Fit and classes are held weekly in Pittville Park.

It was great to catch up with Joan again, having last worked with her when Mouse About Town was just starting out. I remember it had been a very wet fitness class that morning! Today couldn't have been more different!

It was super to see so many Mum's outside with their children. What a mighty fit bunch we are. Everyone enjoyed the session. The children loved watching their Mum's run laps of the park, some even joined in too.

Last Monday evening Joan Palmer booked me for 30 minutes to take some photos of one of her Mum's Fit sessions. Margaret Dabbs London

Margaret Dabbs London is a globally recognised brand specialising in feet and hand products and manicure and pedicure treatments for both men and women. They have five clinics in the UK and one in Dubai, with another two set to open in the very near future. Their Cheltenham branch stretches across two floors and is sited in a very prominent position opposite the Queens Hotel. It's a fabulous space once you set foot inside.

I was booked by the company to take some interior pictures of their treatment rooms as well some staged shots of pedicure and manicure treatments. The photos are to appear on their website and across other media platforms.

School Zone

School Zone is a specialist provider of market research and marketing services in the UK education sector. They are based in Cheltenham and approached me about taking some profile and group photos for their website. After a few email exchanges I was on board.

The location for the shoot was at Dowdeswell Reservoir, or rather, in the woods behind. A beautiful spot that I shall be returning to for future shoots. The brief was to get some fun, natural images that captured people's characters. Nothing too formal or stuffy.

They were a lovely bunch of people to work with. All of them are ex-primary school teachers from around Cheltenham and they had all left their teaching posts because of the gruelling curriculum imposed on them by the Government. I've recently started home schooling my son so we had plenty to talk about!

Nikki

Nikki got in touch with me recently to enquire about getting some professional photos done for her new website and business venture. She recently moved to Cheltenham, has just had her second child and is starting up her own personal training enterprise!

She's still in the very early stages of getting the ball rolling but wanted some photos 'to get her going'. Her clients will be new Mum's and she wanted to show people what they can expect. Work outs can be performed either in the comfort of Nikki's own home, incorporating baby into the routines, and also in her garage, which she is in the middle of converting into a gym.

Just Pose - Big Bang!

Following the Power Paddy job that photo booth hire company Just Pose employed me to photograph a few weeks ago, (click here to view the pictures) just a few days later I was up at the NEC in Birmingham to document another one of their photo booths in action, this time at the Big Bang Science Fair.

The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair is the largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths for young people in the UK. Held at the NEC, Birmingham between 16-19th March, The Big Bang Fair is an award-winning combination of exciting theatre shows, interactive workshops and exhibits, as well as careers information from professionals within the field. The aim is to show young people, (primarily aged between 7-19) the exciting and rewarding opportunities out there for them, by bringing classroom learning to life.

Just Pose - Paddy Power

I was recently contacted by a photo booth hire company called Just Pose. Based in Kent, they hire out their snazzy photo booths nationwide. On this occasion Paddy Power, the betting company, had employed them to install a booth in their private box at the epic Cheltenham Races. Just Pose wanted some documentary shots of the booth in action, which is where I come in!

I popped along for a few hours to capture all the fun; people using the props, posing, the booth in situ. Below are a few of the pictures. I was also there long enough to catch a special appearance by betting guru John McCririck!

Crufts

I recently welcomed the Gloucestershire Cruft's team into my Cheltenham photography studio as they were looking to have some professional shots taken of themselves with their German Shepherds for the upcoming Cruft's event in March.

Not sure I've ever had quite so many dogs in the studio at once and certainly not the size of these beautiful dogs! The mayhem was fantastic and it was no mean feat to get the first photo in this series with all dogs and handlers looking at me with eyes open!

Miniature Music

Miniature Music is a music programme for children age 0-4 years, written and run by Zaphira Cormack, a Cheltenham based musician who loves children!

Zaphira recently contacted me as she needed some professional photos taking of one of her classes, and oh what fun we all had!! There were bongos, ukuleles, (which the babies mostly wanted to eat!), finger puppet sing alongs, not to mention a very naughty crocodile!

Safari Ant

Last Sunday I met up with Florence from new women's clothing company, Safari Ant.

Safari Ant works with young people from impoverished communities, training them to make quality handcrafted products to enable them to enter the global supply chain. If you buy Safari Ant, you are changing lives.

This job has been in the pipeline for quite a while now. Florence is soon to launch her new website, which is where these photos will appear. A second photo shoot takes place in the studio tomorrow.
