Drinks Hub

Last week I popped along to the Drinks Hub, a brand and marketing agency in Cheltenham, to take some up to date interior shots of their offices. It was a lovely, bright space with lots of natural lighting. Being careful to avoid reflections in the perspex wall signs, I carefully set up each shot. I was there for 30 minutes and found it very enjoyable.

St Mary's Playgroup

I was recently contacted by St Mary’s Playgroup in Tetbury as they needed some up to date photos of their playgroup for their website and social media platforms. The weather was a bit hit and miss but that didn’t dampen the children’s enthusiasm, if anything, they had even more fun! I spent an hour with this fantastic group of kids and it really brought it home to me just how much I love my job! Below are just a small selection of images.

Abbey Green Vets

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of meeting some very friendly, furry pups and their equally friendly owners, for some head shots unlike many I’ve done before! The brief was to capture up to date portraits of all the staff at both the Winchcombe and Broadway branches. Most of the staff, bar just a couple, were keen to involve their beloved dogs too.

I must say, it was the most delightful and fun set of head shots I’ve had the pleasure of taking! Despite being rescue dogs, they all had very placid characters, and, much like some of their owners, some were more keen to pose than others! The shoot was split over two days and also included interior shots of the Broadway practice and some ‘set up’ consultations.

Our Footprints

Last week I drove over to The Fish hotel, a luxury Cotswold bolthole near Broadway, to take some corporate shots of construction company, Our Footprints, who were spending a few days there on a team building away event.

The brief was two head shots of each staff member, with and without hard hat, a group shot. of everyone and informal shots of a team meeting. I was there for an hour and a half. Below are a selection of images.

Moving Experts

I was asked to pop along to this house move to capture some shots for the company’s website, which was in need of some up to date images. The brief was to photograph the removal men loading up furniture, packing boxes and wrapping items. I was there for two hours, and couldn’t resist taking a photo of the homeowner’s ever so cute dog!

Buggy Fit

After last month’s session with Joan’s Wellness Zone, I joined Joan in Pittville Park again for some more photos of her wellness group followed by an hour long stint photographing Buggy Fit. There was more glorious weather and lots of enthusiastic Mums with their little ones!

As with all my photo shoots, the session was relaxed and informal. Joan was after candid shots that she could use on her newly rebranded website. Joan's Wellness Zone

After twelve very difficult months, it has been great to get back outside and behind the lens. It has been so long since I’ve done any kind of promotional or event work and we couldn’t have chosen a better day for it in terms of the weather!

I’ve worked with Joan before, having photographed some of her other fitness classes. This time around she needed up to date shots of her newly rebranded Joans’ Wellness Zone, previously called Mumsfit.

We met in Pittville Park at 9.15am for the hour long session. The Mum’s were put through their usual paces, as was I, being 26 weeks pregnant. Great fun though!

Arnica Dental Care

I was recently booked for a 40 minute promotional shoot at Arnica Dental Care, situated on Leckhampton Road in Cheltenham. The company were celebrating winning an award for the UK’s best dental practice for minimising stress and anxiety. The brief was just a few shots of the whole team outside the front of the building, holding the award.

Dormouse Survey

A local ecologist recently asked me to document a dormouse survey he was taking part in. The pictures were to be used on his new website. Being a mouse myself, I was most excited at the prospect of photographing another mouse! We met at a site just outside Stroud and spent an hour fighting our way through the undergrowth, uncovering the dormouse boxes. Many were empty; some had a sleepy resident inside; but the last box had a real live wire! After running up my client’s jumper, the little fella was eventually caught, bagged, weighed and sexed. It was a really fascinating shoot, and something a little bit different to my normal subjects!

Regents Arcade - Mother's Day

Back in February I was contacted by the Regents Arcade in Cheltenham because they wanted to run a promotional event around Mother’s Day. They were offering free photo shoots to all their customers, which were available to book via their website. I was told that the sessions were fully booked within just 24 hours.

I was given a centrally located unit in the shopping centre and spent the day before setting up and selecting props. The day itself was a busy one. Sessions ran back to back from 10-4. I met some lovely families and was pleased to see some new faces as well as some previous and current clients too. Children enjoyed all the toys and various props. Here are some of the highlights. We’re hoping to run a back to school session in September.

Bisley Pre-School

A few weeks ago I was at Bisley pre-school taking photographs of the children for the website. The brief was natural, informal shots of the children playing, both individually and together. They needed one image for a banner poster and others for promotional material. I spent an hour with the little ones and what a delightful bunch they were! We spent some time inside before heading out into the playground where they were keen to show me their toys.

The owners needed some up to date photographs for their website and booked me for 40 minutes to get a variety of different shots ranging from head and profile pictures to miscellaneous images of tools, cars and action shots. Rococo Gardens - Spring Shoot

I’d only recently visited the Painswick Rococo Gardens when they asked me back to take more photographs of their majestic daffodils and other Spring flowers. What a contrast the gorgeous sunshine was to the heavy snow just a few weeks before. Click here to see the photos from that shoot.

It is always such a pleasure to photograph these beautiful gardens and I’m frequently invited to do so by the marketing team. I was here last Autumn capturing the glorious colours, (click here) and before that it was Spring 2018, (click here.)

It was great to use the macro lens to get some really nice close up shots of the daffodils and crocuses. The colours really pop. My wide angle lens also got a good work out, exaggerating perspective.

It was great to be back at the Painswick Rococo Gardens. It’s spectacular at any time of the year but it was extra special to see it covered in snow. This time I had my mini mice with me and they absolutely loved it. On my last visit in the Autumn I was photographing the gorgeous colours and before that I was here in the Spring photographing the snowdrops. Rococo Gardens - Autumn Shoot

I find Painswick Rococo Gardens rather magical, especially in the Autumn when the light and colour can be so strong and vibrant. It’s a place I come to frequently as a photographer. There’s always something new to see. On my last visit in the Spring I was photographing the snowdrops. Click here to see the photos from that shoot.

This time I had been asked to capture some of the magnificent Autumn colour. The key to landscape photography is underexposure, this ensures the highlights in the sky don’t become washed out. One can then bring up the shadows during post production to create a well balanced photograph.

Mum's Fit - Outdoor Session

I've had the pleasure of working with Joan Palmer, of Mum's Fit and Buggy Fit, quite a lot over these past few weeks. She's revamping her website and as such has needed up to date pictures of some of her fitness classes. This particular session was of one of Joan's Mum's Fit classes that she runs weekly in Pittville Park. It was great to see so many Mum's getting outside and enjoying the exercise routines Joan set for them.

Buggy Fit

A few weeks ago Joan Palmer asked if I could come along and take some photos of one of her fitness classes. Joan runs Buggy Fit and classes are held weekly in Pittville Park.

It was great to catch up with Joan again, having last worked with her when Mouse About Town was just starting out. I remember it had been a very wet fitness class that morning! Today couldn't have been more different!

It was super to see so many Mum's outside with their children. What a mighty fit bunch we are. Everyone enjoyed the session. The children loved watching their Mum's run laps of the park, some even joined in too.
