A Splendid 70th!

Emma booked me an hour to cover her Father’s 70th birthday party at her parent’s house on Cleeve Hill. It was a lovely event and the children, as always, took centre stage! The twins in particular were keen to show off some of their poses in front of the camera, much to everyone’s amusement! As usual, I kept things very relaxed and informal, even with the group photos that the family requested. Below is a small selection from the forty six images the family received.

Rowyan's Christening

It was great to see Hazel and her family again. I’ve photographed her children before, each have had a newborn shoot with me and I also covered her daughter’s christening. Use the links below to view the photos from those shoots.

This time around, it was their baby son’s christening, and what a lovely occasion it was. Same church, same vicar, same warm welcome. The service was very relaxed. As with all Church services, I kept my distance, working from the back and the sides so as not to distract from the main event.

Afterwards, it was back to the family home for another hour of photographs, a combination of formal group and more natural shots. Below is just a very small selection from the 184 high resolution images the family received. Head over to my review page to find out what they thought about their experience with me.

Nan's 90th!

I was booked for an hour to cover this 90th birthday celebration at the Tewkesbury Park Hotel. I last saw this family in October 2020, when they held a socially distanced family reunion. Click here to see the photos from that post. A year and a half later and they had got together again for another family gathering, but without the social distancing!

We started things off with a few formal group shots outside before heading into their private room for photos with Nan. There were a lot of group photos to get through, as per the request of the client, but once we had worked through the list, it was on to more casual, informal shots. Below is just a sample of images from the evening.

Emma Jane's Surprise 40th!

Wendy Varley booked me for a one hour slot to help celebrate her daughter’s surprise 40th birthday party at Cowley Manor. The event had already been postponed a year due to Covid so everyone was really looking forward to it. Emma Jayne, Wendy’s daughter, thought she was just meeting her parent’s and sister there for a quiet family meal. Little did she know about the other forty guests who would be joining them! I think the look of utter surprise on her face says it all! I used a combination of flash photography and natural low level lighting. Below are just a few shots from the night.

Philippa's Christening

I last saw Ruth when I photographed her wedding to David three years ago. Back then their daughter was just a baby and they had her christened on the same day. It had been a very joyful occassion.

Fast forward a few years and it was the turn of their second daughter to be christened. The service was held in their local church in Winchcombe and the reception was a short walk away at Ruth’s parent’s house. Ruth had booked me for one and a half hours to capture shots during the service and afterwards. The service itself was very informal and a similar theme continued back at the house. It was a spectacularly warm September day and as the children played on the lawn, the adults sipped on bubbles. After the cake cutting it was time for me to leave, but I gather they all enjoyed a wonderful afternoon.

David's 60th Birthday Bash

I was booked to cover this 60th birthday bash at Temple Guiting Manor by a London baed events company. I had been asked to arrive an hour early to capture shots of the setting and grounds. From 6.30pm, guests made their way down to the Manor for drinks before sitting down for dinner at 7.30pm. During this canapés reception I took a combination of formal group photos and unposed, informal shots. It was a fun evening and as guests sat down to eat, so I departed.

Reuben's Christening Party

Little Reuben’s christening was held in the family’s local church. I was asked to attend the party, which was back at their parent’s house. I was booked for two hours and the brief was informal, candid shots mixed with a few group photos. Mum also wanted some pictures of Reuben upstairs, posed with his favourite toy - a giant cuddly dinosaur! Below are a selection of images taken on the day.

George's Christening

I last saw Flo and her husband Peter three years ago, after the birth of their first son, Louis. It was lovely to be asked back to photograph the christening of their second son, George.

It was a small gathering in their local church in Bibury. Neither George or Louis were in the best of moods, but as the sun shine came out, so too did their smiles! The shoot itself was two hours long. After taking some photos at the house, we all walked round to the church. Afterwards, it was back to the house for some group photos and canapés. Below are a small selection of images.

Lockdown 21

Tim Price recently booked me for a quick 30 minute photography session to take a few shots of his twin daughter’s 21st birthday celebrations at The Ivy, Cheltenham. I was asked to document their arrival outside at the restaurant then asked to come inside for a few photos around the table. Due to COVID-19 guidelines we were quite limited on where we could take photos inside. Below are a small selection of photos from the shoot.

Lockdown Family Reunion

Kathryn contacted me back in August about a family reunion she was trying to organise. They were booked into a Cotswolds cottage in the gorgeous village of Kingham and they were looking for a photographer to capture their black tie event. A quick telephone call later and I was booked for an hour on the evening of the 3rd October from 6.15-7.15pm.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, Kathryn’s family from Sweden were unable to fly over and on the night, to adhere to Government guidelines, the family split themselves into two bubbles. It was a lovely evening, great to be back out and working again, and lovely to mix with such a pleasant group of people. Speeches followed informal drinks and canopes before the family sat down for a three course meal, which was my cue to leave.

Kathryn and her family loved the photos. They contacted me twice after the shoot to tell me how much they had enjoyed my company on the night and how the photos really captured the occasion. Check out my review page to read exactly what they said.

A New year, A New Proposal!

What a great way to start 2020 for lucky girl, Emma! Her boyfriend, Luke, surprised her with a wedding proposal at Park Campus in early January! Luke had been planning this for a while and had first got in touch with me back in the Autumn. Park Campus is a special place for the couple as they both went to University there and it’s how they met.

I’d never met Luke before the shoot, but we agreed the spot where I should position myself - across the lake opposite a bench. The couple arrived, he got down on one knee and she said yes! We then spent a further 30 minutes walking around the park together taking some informal pictures of the pair of them celebrating their new engagement.

A 50th Birthday Bash

I was recently booked to cover a big 50th birthday party at Foxcote Manor, near Broadway. It was a four hour job and great fun. Lesley, the birthday girl, had a large number of friends and family to share the celebrations with. There were drinks and canapés on arrival, before a fabulous Scottish band kicked off the live music outside. Sadly, it was so wet, everyone took cover under the gazebos, but it didn't dampen the atmosphere. Dinner and speeches followed. I left jut as the disco was getting under way. It looked like it was going to be a late night!

A 50th Wedding Anniversary

Lisa booked me for an hour to cover an intimate family celebration at Ellenborough Park to celebrate her parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. We were blessed with a fabulous evening and a wonderful light fell across the surrounding fields. After some family pictures outdoors we went inside for some informal shots. The family popped some champagne and casually chatted as I took some discrete pictures. They headed through to the dining room for their meal, where I captured a few more shots before leaving them to enjoy their dinner.

Harry's 21st

A few weeks ago I was booked to cover a 21st birthday party in Birdlip. It was a two hour shoot and the brief was natural, reportage. After capturing some shots of the dinning area, I worked my way through all the various different groups of people, trying to capture as many faces as possible. It was a great night, plenty of champagne and plenty of candid moments caught on camera!

Eloise's Christening

I photographed Eloise when she was just six weeks old, and so it was great to be invited back to photograph her christening. The vicar had requested no photos to be taken during the service, so I arrived at the end to capture a couple of group shots around the font before heading back to the house for an informal drinks reception. The weather was beautiful, so after photographing the cake, I headed outside onto the lawn for some candid pictures of guests. A few more group photos followed before food was served and I made my departure. It was a two hour shoot in total, and as always, my approach was extremely natural and straight forward.

80th @ Temple Guiting Manor

Last Friday I was booked to cover an 80th bash at the gorgeous Temple Guiting Manor. It was a glorious evening, so everyone was keen to go outside for pictures on the formal lawn. We started with family groups, as per my client’s request, before moving onto more candid, natural shots of the children and adults relaxing in the evening sunshine. It was a 60 minute shoot and, as always, it was very relaxed and informal. Guests were able to gather and mingle as I gently pulled them to one side when it was their turn for a photo, (I’d been given a shot list in advance.)

Family Celebrations

It always seems to be a busy time in the world of Mouse! I get lots of bookings for family celebrations such as wedding anniversaries and special birthdays. This family were staying at Ellenborough Park for the weekend and booked me for an hour to cover the end of their afternoon tea before heading outside for some informal photographs. The swing always proves popular, with young and old! Here are some of the highlights.

Will You Marry me?

This was my second shoot photographing a marriage proposal and it was even more unusual than my first! This time I hadn't even met my client, so relied on a basic description of what he would be wearing with a bit of last minute frenzied texting to make sure I was in the right position and on the right bridge, and there are a lot of bridges in Bourton-on-the-Water!! Thankfully it all came together in the end and the best part is...she said YES!!

Gran Crisps's 80th

I was recently booked for an hour to cover an 80th birthday party in Charlton Kings. I arrived as people were finishing their mains, just in time for the speeches. Gran Crisp is clearly a much loved Grandma, Mum and wife so touching were the fond words her friends and family had to say about her. There was much cheering as she said a few words herself before a rendition of Happy Birthday and the blowing out of the candles on her cake.

It was a beautiful day outside so we went into the gardens for more photos and an Easter egg hunt. The children did remarkably well to contain their excitement while some formal family pictures were taken. Not to deny them of their fun for any longer, they were soon sprinting away searching for eggs. This prompted more fun, candid shots. Here are some of the highlights.

Lewis Turns 1!!

Little Lewis turned 1 last week and I was booked for an hour to capture some photos of him. The shoot took place at my client’s house in Bibury in a beautiful secluded spot. Close family members were to have an intimate birthday lunch and so I took some pictures of the room and cake, which both looked fabulous.

We spent some time outside in the garden before going upstairs to Lewis’ nursery. The light coming in from the window made for some super contrasting black and whites and the smiles from Lewis made for some smashing pics! Here are a few of the highlights.
