Llewena's Cake Smash

A few weeks ago I welcome little Llewena and her big brother Albi into my photography studio for one of my fun filled, fantastic cake smashes!

We started with a few shots of Llewena before inviting Albi to help her 'smash' the cake! They both had a lovely time feeding each other cake, licking it off their feet and playing with the giant balloon, which comes included in the price of the photo shoot, (you also get to take it home, so no tears when playtime is over!)

I hope you like the pictures. If you would like to book something similar then please get in touch using my contact page or give me a call on 07983 465414. I'd love to hear from you!

“Hi Gill. Thanks for these we love them! A great way to end my maternity leave - back to work Monday! Have a great weekend when we get there!”

Mouse About Town's 4th Birthday

Here's the next instalment. My first shoot on the Sunday morning was a great group of NCT Mum's who thought it might be fun to team up and do a mega cake smash with all their girls! And boy was it fun, heaps of chaos and heaps of cake!!

We started the photo shoot off with some simple shots of the girls looking pretty, both indivual photos and group ones too, before moving onto the mess! See pics below.

Mouse About Town's 4th Birthday

Mouse About Town celebrated her 4th birthday last week! I've an established wedding photography business that I run called www.gillthomas.co.uk, but Mouse About Town began, (like all good ideas) over a glass of wine, (or two!) towards the end of 2013. My son's wooden ride on mouse was parked up in the corner of our snug lounge and it got me thinking about names. Seeing him on it whizzing along the pavements of Cheltenham town inspired the name Mouse About Town.

One of the real highlights was opening The Mousehole, my new photography studio. It's small but perfectly formed and ever so cosy and quirky. It's bursting at the seams with vintage props and brilliant car boot finds. My children often find toys of theirs that I've quietly snuck out of the house while they were watching Peppa Pig!

The studio has opened up a whole new avenue of creativity for me and was the perfect venue to host my birthday party! We celebrated in style with two FREE cake smash marathon events. It was brilliant to share my birthday with all the little ones, who all had enormous fun smashing their cakes, bashing balloons and generally making a complete mess! I even had a cake waiting for me when I got home, made by my fabulous Mr Mouse!

Looking ahead, one of the highlights of this year is the new collaboration that's in the pipeline with Winston's Wish. It's a charity very close to my heart and I'm excited to see how things develop.

For now though, here are two photo shoots from Saturday...

Happy Birthday to me x

Lauren's Cake Smash

Lauren and her Mummy and Daddy came into The Mousehole, situated just off the Bath Road in Cheltenham, on Sunday for  a cake smash photography shoot, and boy did we have fun!

The cake had been made by her Mummy and was a real beauty, but Lauren was far more interested in all the silly noises Mummy and Daddy were making; silly sneezing and bubbles would make her hysterical!

A typical cake smash session lasts for one hour, but after half an hour or so Lauren was getting a little restless and so I suggested we clean up and encourage her to just play and have fun. She was soon having a great time, pulling out loads of different props, but her favourite was anything she could stack, so wooden blocks, a wooden stackable lorry etc.

I'm getting lots of enquiries through for cake smash photo sessions, not to mention of course my cake smash marathon that I'm holding on Sunday 22nd March as part of Mouse About Town's 1st birthday celebrations. Watch this space for heaps more pics!

Amelia's Cake Smash

It was great to meet Amelia the other week. I photographed her Mum and Dad's wedding back in 2011 and they had been so pleased with the photographs that I was their first choice for their little girls' cake smash!

It would be fair to say that Amelia wasn't having the best day! She was teething and hadn't slept well and yet despite that we still managed to get some lovely happy shots of her, in between the tears! Her poor Mum's cake didn't go down well. The icing clearly aggravated her gums. Luckily she loved the balloon that I supply as part of my cake smash packages and had great fun playing with it! Little ones are very welcome to take the balloon home with them at the end of the shoot.
