Ethical Party Wear

Kate contacted me a few weeks ago as she needed professional photographs taking of her ethical party wear for her new business. I went to her house, and set up my studio lights in her front room. She was extremely prepared, which was very helpful. Below are just a small selection of images from the fifty four that Kate received.

Williams of Nailsworth

Helen contacted me recently as she wanted professional photos taking of the outdoor space at her multi-award-winning seafood restaurant, fishmonger and delicatessen - Williams in Nailsworth. I’ve driven past this gorgeous eatery many times, and have always fancied sampling its menu. Sadly, I didn’t get the chance to on this occasion either, but it was lovely to meet Helen and the rest of her staff.

The brief was shots that captured the outside seating area, along with a few images of some of their latest dishes. Fair to say, I was feeling pretty hungry by the end of the 90 minute photo shoot! Below are a small sample of images that Helen received. You can read the review she left for me on my reviews page.

Monty's Guitars

Based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, Monty’s Guitars is a team of talented musicians who make guitar pick ups, as well as an extraordinary range of other parts. Their client base is wide and pretty impressive, with the likes of Kasabian, Radiohead, Biffy Clyro, Katie Melua and many more.

One of the founders, Matt, contacted me as they needed photographs of all of the parts they make, and there were a lot! After two days of photographs in their workshop, using my studio equipment, there was then a further two weeks of post production. Incredibly intensive work due to the nature of the materials being photographed.

Fine Art Paintings

Di Berry contacted me recently as she needed professional photographs taking of her paintings. There were about thirty five canvasses in total. Natural daylight and a tripod works best for this type of work. Artificial studio lighting can be used, but it can often overcomplicate what is a relatively simple process.

The photos were taken at Di’s house. I had done a recky a few days before and had advised her on the best wall to use, (this decision was based on the amount of available natural daylight and the angle it was hitting the wall.) She had then prepped the area accordingly. We spent an hour carefully taking each shot, ensuring that the focus was pin point accurate.

Di is going to use the photos as gift cards and prints.

Wheel Product Shots

Nick contacted me recently because he needed some professional shots of his handmade carbon fibre bike wheels to use on his website and social media platforms. There were four sets of wheels in total. I chose the skate board ramps in Pittville Park as the backdrop. I felt the gritty graffiti graphics might offset the wheels well, providing a good context. I think it works really well! I then spent some time in Nick’s workshop taking some shots of him and his set up to help bring across the handmade nature of the wheels a little more.

Skin Salve

Ben, the founder of Skin Salve, commissioned me for an hour to capture some professional shots of his skin care products. A combination of shots were required, including individual shots of each product and a group shot of all the products, with and without the hand cream.

Belinda Jane

I was recently commissioned by a local florist, who wanted an up to date shot of one of her gift packages to use on her website. I don’t often need to cut out but in this case she wanted all shadows removed. It’s a step away from my usual style but good to keep my hand in with this useful technique.

The Snug Hug

Snughug is a British children’s dressing gown company that focuses on creating luxury products in exclusive designs. Founded by Matilda Wood, she recently contacted me as she was in need of some professional studio shots.

It was a three hour shoot with lots of lovely little models all bursting with energy and enthusiasm! The morning was a whirlwind of bunnies, dragons and penguins all eager to jump in front of the lens and have some fun. We kept the shoot very informal, and apart from a handful of specific shots that Matilda needed, we left the children to their own devices. I often find this approach works best as the children are far more relaxed and their natural smiles and beaming grins just ooze out of them.

If you have a new product you're launching and need some professional photos then please get in touch using my contact page or give me a call on 07983 465414. I'd love to hear from you! Thanks.

JSM

I was recently asked to take some product photos of a notebook  brand. The brief was mainly lifestyle shots. I had met my client, Jon Griffiths, at a previous photo shoot I did for him and his family in Pittville Park. It was great to catch up with him and his wife again and learn more about their business.

Cradle To Crib

A few weeks ago I met up with Amber,  founder of new children's clothing company; Cradle To Crib. This eco-friendly boutique is rethinking how we buy for babies. It provides parents with a sustainable option for purchasing clothes for their children.

Amber lovingly hand makes every item of clothing. All of the pieces in the photos have been designed and crafted by her.

Following my suggestion, the photo shoot itself took place in Pittville Park with half a dozen, (very cute) children! The little models regularly attend Miniature Music sessions, a fun music group that is held in and around Cheltenham most weeks. I know the lady who runs the group and I suggested to Amber that she might be a good contact.

The brief was fairly straightforward. Amber wanted to capture the children in a natural setting, playing and having fun. These are the first set of photos that will appear on Amber's new website once it is up and running so she wanted simple, striking images that would capture the eye as soon as people hit the home page.

Action Baby Carriers (UK)

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with Nicole Hastie, Director of Action Baby Carriers (UK).

Action Baby Carriers are ethically manufactured in the USA, they combine comfort and style, making it easy and fun to take your baby around with you wherever you go.  As you'll see from the photos, they are available in a wide range of fun prints and solid colours and can be adjusted to fit any body shape.

Nicole's brief was straightforward. She was redesigning her website and needed some lifestyle shots of her Action Baby Carriers in action!

We chose Pittville Park, Cheltenham, for our backdrop for the shoot. It's picturesque setting was ideal for the soft, organic feel we wanted to create in the photos. The models were Mum's that Nicole had got to know through her 10 years experience working in the baby wearing world.

Safari Ant Product Shoot

Okay chaps. Wedding season has been in full swing this past month, but I've finally got a day in front of the computer to catch up with some Mouse About Town blogs!

On 26th July I met up with Florence again, to shoot some of the products that are to appear on her new website, women's clothing company; Safari Ant.

Safari Ant works with young people from impoverished communities, training them to make quality handcrafted products to enable them to enter the global supply chain. If you buy Safari Ant, you are changing lives.

This job is the second of two photo shoots that I've done for Florence. For pictures of the lifestyle shoot please click here

Charlotte Parkhill Jewellery

Charlotte Parkhill lives and works in Broadway. Growing up in a family of Jewellers and Gemologists, Charlotte has always loved and been fascinated by jewellery. She graduated from the prestigious School of Jewellery Birmingham and graduated with First Class Honours from the Jewellery and Silversmithing BA Design for Industry Degree Course.  She works from the family jewellery shop, The Goldsmithy in Broadway.

As a contemporary designer jeweller Charlotte likes to draw inspiration from architecture, nature and patterns within them.  With this in mind she creates feminine yet sculptural, striking pieces, by combining innovative technologies with traditional craftsmanship. Charlotte works in precious metals and uses unique stones as a focal point to her work.

Her recent collections have been created around delicate, open lace work, the pattern for which she has designed.

These latest photos by Mouse About Town are to be used on Charlotte's new, rebranded website.

Bubble & Squeak

I do a lot of voluntary work for St Philips and St James' Church in Leckhampton, Cheltenham. I've worked with Nick, the vicar, many times, previously capturing shots of their Harvest Festival Service, Crib Service as well as publicity shots for their Christmas cards.

When Nick approached me on this occasion it was for something a little bit different. To help raise funds for their big roof appeal, they are to launch a recipe book based on the idea of recycling and reusing wasted and unwanted food. I was more than happy to help with the photography. The book is to launch just before Christmas. I hope to have a copy in the coming months which I can share with you all. In the mean time, here are a few of the photos from the shoot.

Myself, my husband and two children enjoy the family services that take place on the first Sunday of each month at the Church. It's refreshing to feel so warmly welcomed with the little ones laughing, screaming and shouting, which is actively encouraged throughout the service!
