It was great to meet Nienke last week, who was in need of some up to date head and profile pictures. I suggested we meet at The Long Table near Stroud, which makes for a brilliant backdrop, plus there is the canal adjacent, which provides a nice outdoor setting. We spent a relaxed half an hour chatting and taking photos in a very informal way.

Tim contacted me recently as he needed some up to date head and profile photos for his LinkedIn and social media platforms. He booked me for an hour. We met in central Cheltenham, and utilised the local park and beautiful Crescent, before heading inside to a coffee shop for some shots with the laptop. The whole thing was very relaxed, and Tim really enjoyed the experience.

Balcarras School Photos

I was recently contacted by Balcarras School to take photographs of their winning sports teams. We had one hour to get a lot of photos done, but with the help of teachers navigating the children into the right places, we successfully captured all the shots they needed. She was after a few photos inside and a few photos outside with the flowers, views and her dogs. It was really enjoyable, Liz was lovely and her dogs extremely obliging! A few weeks ago I was asked to take some professional headshots of staff at Bellwood Prestbury in Cheltenham. Karen is a personal trainer and contacted me as she needed new photos for her website. We met at the bridge near Waitrose, on the Honeybourne Line, Cheltenham. It’s a great spot for photos, with the graffiti covered walls and long, linear path that creates good perspective.

Charlotte needed some up to date head shots for her social media accounts and so contacted me for a 30 minute shoot. We met at Park Campus in Cheltenham, which is a lovely, quiet spot for photos - great for those feeling a little self conscious. We took a gentle walk around the lake, stopping now and again for a photo. We mixed in a variety of standing and sitting shots. Nicola contacted me recently as she needed up to date head and profile photos for her website and social media platforms. She booked an hour and we met at the Pump Rooms in Pittville Park, which offers useful shelter if the weather isn’t dry, which on this occasion it wasn’t.

I try and make all my head shot photography sessions as informal as possible, as many people generally find the whole idea of having their photos taken quite uncomfortable, even more so in a one on one situation. So I like to have a chat, which usually helps to put people at ease, and then start with some very low key shots, such as full body.

Christina contacted me recently as she needed some up to date head and profile photos for her website. I met her at her house in Painswick for the hour long shoot. We began with some formal head and profile shots of her in her suit inside. I suggested a couple of different places where the light was falling nicely, such as the upstairs landing and the stair rail.

We moved outside and went for a walk in her local woods with her beloved dog, Mabel. As is always the way at this time of year, there was the most spectacular Autumn light. We didn’t have to stroll too far, I picked a couple of nice spots where the light was just creeping into the woods and then we walked up to the common, using the lovely vista for a backdrop.

I was recently booked to take some head shots of a local drinks company in Cheltenham. The shoot was 30 minutes long and it gave just enough time to capture two or three different shots of each team member. I always try to make head shot photography shoots has relaxed as possible, as people often get quite tense with the camera directly on them.

Oakridge School Photos

Last week I was over in the beautiful village of Oakridge to take the children’s school photos. On previous years the school have used more mainstream companies, but the parents complained about the quality of the images and how they didn’t capture the personalities of their child.

This year they opted for me, and what fun we all had! I always try my best to put children at ease, and this session was no different. I chose a nice shady spot under a tree and asked some of their friends to get involved and pull silly faces behind my back. Here is just a small selection of images. I couldn’t share them all due to parent’s photo restrictions.

Lucy got in touch with me recently as she needed some up to date head shots for her online social media profiles. I suggested we meet at Crickley Hill, a spot I use frequently for this type of work. The combination of the woods and wide open spaces gives clients a nice variety of different images. As it was, Lucy also brought along a few outfit changes too.
