Sarah and Jake

Sarah contacted me recently enquiring into the possibility of booking a short 20 minute photography session with herself and her boyfriend. She wanted some professional shots of the two of them. We met in Pittville Park on a gorgeous Autumn day. The light was stunning. With some subtle direction from me, we achieved some rather nice poses. Despite Jake not being overly confident in front of the camera, his shyness comes across as quite endearing.

Lacey and Lola

I last saw Lacey in 2018 when I photographed her in the Church where her Mum and Dad got married. Fast forward three years and she has grown up into quite the young lady! Click here to see the photos from that shoot.

This time around I met them at their home in Dowdeswell. From there we walked across the lane onto the village green. Mum and Dad were keen for a few photos with their recently planted trees, as well as pictures of their new puppy! The shoot lasted for 40 minutes and was the usual mix of informal, casual shots alongside some more posed family photos. Below are a sample of images from the session.

The Moore Family

Rob got in touch with me back in July to enquire about booking a family photo shoot in September. I was relieved he wanted to do the shoot in September as I had to turn a fair bit of work down in July and August due to the imminent arrival of my new mini mouse - no one is ever quite sure if they’re going to be late or early or how the birth is going to go but, as this was my third, and the other two were both late, I was banking on him also being late. As it was he was born at the start of August and the birth was pretty good! I was back on my feet working within just a week or two. It has been great to be out and about again exploring all the corners of the Cotswolds!

Rob and his family had booked a cottage for the weekend over near Broadway. It was a large family affair and as with most occasions that involve multiple children and various four legged pets - pretty crazy! The children were great fun, although the youngest was a little tearful due to a late night the previous evening. Yet despite that, we still managed to get some lovely shots of him, much to the family’s amazement! If you head over to my review page you’ll be able to read their comments - they were ever so pleased with the results, if not a little surprised given the minor melt downs from their little people!!

Elmore Court

Last Sunday I met Beckie and her family at the gorgeous Elmore Court. I’ve shot a few weddings here so was familiar with the grounds, which are stunning. The long grasses provided a natural backdrop for the two girls to run around in. There was plenty of fun with Mum and Dad, and even the grandparents joined in too. The session lasted for 30 minutes but I got plenty of shots in that short space of time. Below are just a small selection of them.

A Bluebell Spectacle

Anna and Izzy had a lovely time playing among the bluebells in Lassington Woods. I head this way every year with various different families to enjoy the colourful display of these beautiful little flowers. They make a wonderful backdrop for photo shoots and we’re always careful not to damage them.

The girls cuddled, kissed, giggled and laughed their way through most of this 60 minute shoot! It was great fun, even when their Dad misplaced his glasses on the woodland floor! We paused the shoot for 15 minutes or so while we helped him with his search, with no luck. Thankfully, a passing walker stumbled across them.

As with all my photo shoots, it was very relaxed and informal. Play not posing is the key emphasis. Below are just a small selection of shots.

Strawberry Fields Forever

Strawberry Banks, near Stroud, makes an idyllic backdrop for a photo shoot. It is home to various breeds of rare, native butterflies and in the Spring the long grasses climb up around children’s knees, tickling their legs, their laughs carried by the gentle breeze.

Luna and her Mum and Dad had travelled up from London. Bizarrely, they had come across me through my holiday let advertised on Air B and B. When they found out I was also a photographer they booked a session with me on the second day of their stay.

They wanted beautiful Cotswold scenery with rolling hills and fields full of flowers as a backdrop for their photo shoot so I suggested they might want to look at Strawberry Banks. They booked a 60 minute session and as luck would have it, it fell on what was the hottest day of the year so far.

Little Luna sparkled in the sunshine. Mesmerised by the ponies, she then delighted in rolling around the soft, lush glass with her giant teddy before blowing dandelion clocks with her Mum and Dad. There were plenty of cuddles and the long stems of the rape fields made the perfect setting for a little bit of peep-o. Below are a small selection of images from their shoot.

The Ellis Family

I met Alison, Chris and their two children, Eligh and Ava, at a remote spot called Kites Nest Lane, just the other side of Gloucester. It’s not a location I had been to before, but they go walking there a lot with their dog, Rory, and were keen to capture the family in one of their favourite settings.

It was a rather drizzly morning, but the woods provided great shelter and the rain made some fantastic opportunities for a spot of puddle jumping! We tried to keep the shoot as natural as possible, encouraging the children to play instead of pose. The bluebells made a lovely backdrop too. Below is just a small selection of shots from their 60 minute shoot.

Barney!

It was a very blowy day when I met Alex and his family on Leckhampton Hill for their 60 minute photo shoot. Little Barney didn’t like the blustery conditions, and after persevering for a little while, we retreated to the shelter of the fields, tucked back from the escarpment.

Sometimes, the best quality one can bring to a photo shoot is patience. Little ones aren’t always keen on having their photos taken, so one has to work closely with the parents to encourage and relax them. It took a good 30 minutes for Barney to come round to the idea, we grabbed the odd shot where we could, mostly while he was sat snuggled in the back pack on Dad’s back! Through playfulness with the leaves on the trees, playing with sticks, being swung hand in hand by Mum and Dad and generally being tickled, teased and cuddled, we got some lovely photos of Barney, who has the most contagious smile! Mum and Dad were really pleased with the photos. Go to my reviews page to find out what they said.

Summer and Sophie

Last weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Sophie and her daughter, Summer. We met at Cleeve Hill on a beautiful, sunny Autumn afternoon. With its dramatic skies and stunning views Cleeve Hill makes a great spot for photos. The shoot was 30 minutes long and we began by taking a short stroll across the golf course, over to the spectacular vista.

As with all my photo shoots, it was very informal and relaxed and after about 15 minutes Summer began to show us her acrobatic skills! It was great fun watching her launch herself off the steps, curl herself up on one of the golf tees and clamber up the wonky railings! Afterwards, her Mum sent me a lovely message:

Thank u for the photo shoot, very friendly and enjoyable.

The Hannington's

It was great to catch up with the Hannington family again. I last saw them in 2016 when Callum and Theodore were much younger - I couldn’t believe how much they’d grown! To view the photos from that shoot please click here.

We met in Pittville Park and much of the 40 minutes was spent running around after the boys as they played, climbed and generally had a great time! Some of my photo shoots are pretty energetic sessions and this one was right up there with the best of them!

Boys Will Be Boys!

Earlier this month I was in Pittville Park with Christian Holland, his two boys and their Grandma for a 30 minute photo shoot. Christian had bought the shoot for his Mum as a birthday present. We had a lovely time clambering over the stepping stones, rambling up the rope ladders and swinging from trees. My photo shoots always feel more like a play date than work! The boys had a great time.

Erin

I recently organised a bumper day of back to back shoots at the Confetti Fields in Pershore, Worcestershire. It had been two years since I was last there but as always, the fields of delphiniums and sunflowers looked spectacular. I had eight shoots in total spread over the course of the day, which ran from 10am through to 5pm. Despite working under Covid-19 regulations, the day was great fun and a huge success. A big thank you to the organisers for making it safe and enjoyable for all those who visited.

Some of my families were previous clients, so it was great to see them again. I’m always amazed at how fast the children grow! It was also lovely to see some new faces and meet new families, including this little girl.

The Confetti Fields make a wonderful backdrop for photographs and offer something completely different from family to family. Some children wanted to spend the whole time playing hide and seek in the sunflowers, while others became lost in the curiosity of their own thoughts as they tickled the petals of the flowers.

Swansea & Bola

Bola contacted me recently to ask if I was available for a 40 minute shoot in Broadway with himself and his wife, Swansea. Having been locked down for the last five months, they were keen to escape London to spend a few days in the Cotswolds. They were a super lovely couple and looked fantastic dressed up for their photo shoot. They were staying at a luxury Cotswold retreat and so we made the most of the extensive grounds, including the picturesque lake, old water wheel and various other pretty places that I suggested might work well for some photos.

Christmas at The Apple Barn

Tina booked me for an hour to capture some pictures of her family, who were celebrating her parent’s 50th Wedding Anniversary. The brief was to capture a selection of group shots of different family members. I chose a suitably, leafy backdrop, (and there weren’t that many areas to choose from.) The weather wasn’t ideal, so after 40 minutes or so outside, we headed inside for some pictures by the Christmas tree. Below are a selection of images.

Christmas at Foxhill Manor

Abi and her family hired the very beautiful Foxhill Manor for their Christmas. It was a real pleasure to come along and photograph her and her extended family for an hour or so in the gorgeous grounds.

As with all my photo shoots, the emphasis is always on helping the children, (and grown ups) to relax and enjoy themselves. Getting outside in the fresh air is a great way to do this. There was plenty of fun to be had on the giant swing and just enough time for some posed family group shots, at the request of my client.

Broadway Tower

Last weekend I was at Broadway Tower for a photo shoot with Roger and his family. The shoot had been purchased as a gift voucher for him last Christmas. My vouchers don’t have expiry dates on them, meaning you can book your shoot in as and when it’s convenient.

It was a bitterly cold morning. The children, Edith and Harry, did remarkably well. Edith in particular found the cold conditions tough to take, so it was a case of grabbing my moments between the tears. Overall though it was another lovely, fun shoot with plenty of jumping around to keep warm!

South Hill Farm House Shoot

Last weekend I headed over to Stow-on-the-Wold for a photo shoot with a family celebrating a 70th birthday. They had hired a house for the weekend, (one I’ve worked at before as it happens, with another family!) They were a lovely bunch of people and the kids were great fun. The brief was to capture some formal group shots and plenty of candid ones of the children playing in the garden.

Golden Wedding Anniversary

Last weekend I was at Heythrop Park in Chipping Norton with a family celebrating their parent’s Golden Wedding Anniversary. The weather was so awful we were restricted to inside shots only. Luckily for us the interior was pretty stunning so it worked out well. It was a fairly relaxed and informal session, with plenty of group shots, as per the request of the family.
